Bond making is one of those skills that sounds simple until you're actually doing it — and then it's not.
There are a hundred small decisions happening before a single bond ever touches a head, and most of that doesn't get taught.
That's what this class is for.
Over two full days at MTAM HQ, you'll work with raw hair, build bonds from scratch, customize color without ever picking up a brush, and leave with systems that actually hold up behind the chair. We built this space specifically for this kind of class — everyone can see properly, we have camera equipment to show blown-up visuals of the details that usually get missed, and we have a team of educators helping with hands-on so you're actually learning, not just watching.
What You'll Learn:
How to handle raw hair confidently and efficiently, with minimal waste
Bond creation from scratch — pearl vs. standard, density, color and texture customization
How to mix and match hair to achieve seamless color without using hair color (this alone is a game changer)
How to work with raw hair from start to finish — we supply it, you color it, mix it, and bond it
Installation — it won't be the main focus (bond making is), but it accounts for roughly 20–30% of the class time so you'll see how it all connects
Systems for streamlining your prep so bond-making becomes a sustainable part of your service menu, not a half-day ordeal
You’ll walk out with a fully stocked kit, two physical handbooks, and a clear understanding of how to integrate bond making into your service flow.

Christine Woods
MTAM founder, obsessed with the why behind every decision and even more obsessed with teaching it. She'll be walking you through theory, client safety, and the thought process behind customization.
Alex Denaro
Resident MTAM educator. Known for ultra-secure, ultra-discreet baby bonds and installs that take a fraction of the time most stylists spend. You'll see his process up close.
Lauren Hecht
A bond-making machine and one of the most skilled bond makers we know. She'll be bringing her expertise in strip-making and color blending (without any color brushes!) to both days.
Darian Thornton
A master at creating a super low-density bond, which is everything for your high-risk clients. If that's an area you've been struggling with, she's your girl.
The Setup (and Why It Matters)
MTAM HQ was built for this style of class. The space is designed so every person in the room can actually see what's happening — we're not talking about squinting at someone's hands from the back row.
We use professional camera equipment to project blown-up visuals of the fine details in real time. The things that usually get lost in a large class setting are the things we've made sure you can actually see here.
We keep the group intentionally small. You'll have access to us throughout the day, not just during designated Q&A windows.

Will I actually learn to make bonds from scratch, or is this more conceptual?
Yes — making bonds from scratch is the entire point of this class. You'll have raw hair in your hands, you'll be mixing and coloring hair, and you'll be building bonds from the ground up. The conceptual stuff only makes sense when you're doing it, so we do both.
Do I need prior bond-making experience to attend?
No. You don't need to have made a bond before. You do need to be ready to learn and willing to be hands-on. If you're a complete beginner to extensions overall, reach out to us first so we can make sure this is the right fit.
Will we work with raw hair?
Yes. We supply raw hair and color-treated hair and you'll be coloring it, mixing it, and bonding it yourself. This is one of the parts of the class that most people don't get exposure to — and it's where a lot of the customization magic actually happens.
Will installation be covered?
Yes, but bond making is the main focus. Installation accounts for roughly 20–30% of the class time — enough for you to understand how everything connects and see the bonds in action, but not a deep dive into install technique. If that's what you're primarily looking for, our Install Intensive is the better fit.
When do I get access to the MTAM platform?
Right away — as soon as you register. We want you using it before you even walk through the door so you can come in with context and get even more out of the two days.
If you're a current member you'll get an additional 6 months added to your current subscription.
How is this different from watching videos online?
Hands. In. Hair.
You can watch bond making a hundred times and still feel lost the first time you're doing it yourself. Being in the room means you can ask questions in the moment, get eyes on your technique as it's happening, and troubleshoot in real time.
The camera setup at HQ also means you'll see levels of detail in the live demos that don't translate through a screen.
I've invested in education before and felt burned. Why is this different?
That's fair, and honestly it's something we think about a lot. We're not going to tell you that you have to trust us — we'd rather show you.
Everything we teach is rooted in the why, not just the how. We don't gatekeep, we don't make you feel stupid for asking questions, and we built MTAM specifically because we were frustrated with the kind of education that does those things.
